The Internet Saga

I’m so irritated with my internet situation!! I want to scream, and yes, I realize that I am being a whiny, little, errr, uh big,  brat.  Since we moved out to the boonies about two and a half years ago, we have dealt with trying our best to find a suitable internet connection.  After trying out dial-up, which is not even doable, we nixed that, then Jason and I both tethered our cell phones to our computers to hook up to the internet-not so great, but better than nothin’!  We finally broke down and paid to have satellite internet (HughesNet to be specific) installed at our home, so we could actually have somewhat “normal” internet, or so we thought.

We have run into problems since day one with HughesNet, especially when downloading and uploading any type of files.  There is something that happens to our internet service that basically shuts down the whole thing if we surpass the maximum allowed “downloads” per day.  Um, that means no watching videos, no uploading, or downloading songs or videos, etc. That really stinks, this is 2009, after all, and I would expect HughesNet to be a little more advanced!

Before we moved, we previously had wonderful internet service, which was the equivalent of a t3 connection for less than $40/month, well needless to say, now with our crappy HughesNet we pay around $100/month for just above dial-up I guess.  Something’s not quite right with this picture, it almost makes me want to move out of the country, closer to town, just for better internet service.  I mean, what’s a blogger without good internet?  Okay, you’ve heard me whine, and moan, now I’ll shut-up, but just know that if you notice a lack of blog posts, then it will be more understandable as to why.

Any Advice, or thoughts??

I fear I’ll be in the same boat as you when we find our house. That honestly was my first fear when we started looking at houses approved for USDA loans :( I wish there was a better option for people that live in BFE!!
